It's 4:40 in the morning here. I've already called my dad this morning, and lo and behold! He was home. When I called him yesterday, he was out looking at Christmas lights (he was on a date).
It's a snow day, today, for the youngest. He got one yesterday, so when I got home, we baked. When both of them were little and we had snow days, and you had enough advanced warning, I'd run to the store, make sure we had enough hot chocolate on hand. They would play so hard, come in, put their snow clothes in the dryer, and warm up with hot chocolate. Oh, I missed those days till yesterday! The baking with "the baby" (who is 17) brought back such good memories. Got 6" of snow yesterday! It's beautiful, but dangerous. When we lived in Ohio and needed to drive in the snow, we had snow plows and salt trucks. Here in CA, we have people who do not know how to drive in snow and have accidents. I saw four accidents on the way home from work, yesterday. They let us go home early (thank God!). I think I drove @ 35 mph on the freeway. I had to. The nurse that left after me she was in the group that got the police escort. She must be WAY more important than me ;) She's the bomb, actually. I'm glad they called them out to help.
Not sure that I'm going to go into work, today. This stuff won't be melting until @ 1000 hrs this morning. I need to sneak out @ 0700 and take some pictures before it all melts away. I also need to make my holiday menus and bake. Got the cards done, the presents that need to be mailed wrapped and shipped. I went to the post office on Sunday evening, where you can weigh your packages, buy your postage and drop the boxes. I could do all but the last one. They had the drop box locked (makes sense), so i was able to go back at 0530 Monday morning (THE busiest shipping day of the year) and put them in the drop box. Yeah for automation!!
So, today, if I stay home, I will clean the house, get the decorations out, and maybe go pick out a tree with my youngest son. I love snow days.
